Growing and thriving since 1994.

Most people are familiar with the Weyerhauser name as a company involved in forestry, lumber and paper production.  There was a division in the company called Weyerhauser Real Estate Development Corporation (WREDCO) that developed Cypress Landing.

If one looks closely in the stands of tall loblolly pines throughout the community, you can still see the rows of trees and furrows that remain from its original tree farm beginnings.  Located high above Chocowinity Bay and the Pamlico River, the land was easily identified as an ideal location for WREDCO to develop an all inclusive community. The development of Cypress Landing started in earnest in 1994.

Phase I began with basic infrastructure, developing the Bay Club site, Cypress Landing Parkway, Potomac Drive as far as the bridge and various side roads and cul de sacs.   In the late 1990’s the bridge on Potomac was completed and the road extended to Blounts Creek Road. Then infrastructure began in Phase II on the south side of Blounts Creek. Around 2004, all properties had been sold and WREDCO prepared to turn management of the community over the the HOA. As part of that process, they completely paid for replacement of the floating dock system due to quality issues with the original construction.

It was quite a sight to see huge dock fingers being towed up the Chocowinity Bay. Now, after 30 years, Cypress Landing continues to develop and thrive.
